Corrective Feedback: Beyond page 2

Ever feel like your corrections go in one ear and out the other? There’s more to corrective feedback than just choosing between ‘on-the-spot’ and ‘delayed’ correction. This is a webinar for teachers who want to go beyond CELTA-level correction techniques and strategies.

In this webinar, we will explore different reasons and different ways of offering learners oral corrective feedback. The goal is to help you deal with emergent language and learners’ mistakes in a more efficient way to improve the chances of your feedback actually causing a positive change in your learners’ English.

This isn’t just another lecture—come ready to work!

Before we “get our hands dirty,” we’ll quickly bridge the gap between theory and practice. We’ll move beyond the basics of error correction with:

  • Explicit vs. Implicit correction
  • Input-providing vs. Output-prompting strategies
  • Scaffolding interlocked tasks to revisit language

You’ll learn how these choices impact your learners and how to design scaffolded tasks that actually foster growth. Finally, we’ll work together to analyze real-life learner interactions to decide exactly how, when, and why to intervene.
